Wheel of Fortune fans question Ryan Seacrest’s skills after blunder – TV – Entertainment

“He just opens the gold envelope, looks down at it and then at the contestant. SO you can see the puzzle was worth $40,000 BUT HE NEVER says the dollar amount out loud,” they wrote.

He doesn’t actually read it off the card and says the number that is written. He just shows the audience and cameras the card. I think it’s super awkward because he starts to say the puzzle was worth it, but then he just opens the card and goes silent without giving the prize number.”

“At first I thought it was just him getting used to the gig, but I’m starting to wonder if maybe he just can’t read numbers?” they asked.

However, others quickly jumped to Seacrest’s defense, pointing out that he easily read numbers off the wheel for the rest of the episode, and also shared that he’s not the only one who did, as Sajak never read the prizes off the cards either.

“He says every number that comes up on the wheel….” wrote one.

“Ryan can read numbers. He reads them all the time from the wheel and when he reads everyone’s final winnings before the bonus round. So he’s not numerically illiterate!” another commented. “Do you even watch the show? If you don’t like Ryan fine … but at least back up your criticism with substance. Saying he can’t read numbers is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Did Pat ever read the prize amount?” asked another. “I don’t remember him ever reading them out loud either.”

“Pat never said the number on the final either, did he? He just showed it to the camera and the contestant.”

Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights on ABC.
