Ariana Grande wears Glinda-inspired yellow dress at UK Wicked Premiere

Something has changed in Ariana Grande.

At the London premiere of Evil on Monday, Nov. 19, the actress and singer decided to ditch her usual Glinda-inspired pink hues in favor of a buttery yellow ensemble.

Grande, 31, walked the green carpet in a tailored silk evening gown and matching wrap from Ralph Lauren Collection. She accessorized with a sparkling choker necklace as well as a pair of sunglasses – like some Evil fans at X cleverly pointed out is a likely nod to a scene in the Broadway musical where the character of Glinda (originally played by Kristin Chenoweth) wears a similar pair of glasses with a yellow dress.

Grande’s costar Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the film adaptation, wore a black Schiaparelli couture dress just like her character.

The duo posed for photos at the premiere, holding hands as they showed off theirs Evil– inspired appearance.

Erivo, 37, brought the drama with her black Schiaparelli gown, which featured a glittering taper lining beneath its voluminous tulle skirt.

Grande and Erivo, 37, have committed to method dressing throughout Evil press tour.

For the Nov. 14 New York premiere, Grande leaned into her character in a pink strapless Louis Vuitton dress with a peplum silhouette. Erivo opted for a custom Dior look with an exaggerated waist and sweetheart neckline.

In Mexico on November 11, the duo impressed once again in character-inspired looks. Grande wore an iridescent Versace gown with a plunging V-neckline and a structured bodice in a shimmery pink and white color. Erivo went for a black dress once again, but this time with an unexpected twist. The Thom Browne outfit had long sleeves and theatrical hands at the shoulders as well as a hoodie.

IN an interview with content creator @aichark posted on Nov. 7, Grande and Erivo shared that their coordinating outfit line started on “day one” of Evil.

“Our first day of rehearsal, we’re both wearing Balenciaga hoodies. Mine was pink and said ‘gay,’ and hers was black and said ‘Balenciaga,'” Grande revealed.

“It’s never really ever planned. It is never planned. We just show up and that’s what happens,” Erivo added.
