Kristin Chenoweth admits she never thought of one Evil Movies would be made

At the New York premiere of the film on November 14 Evil film crew and Broadway stars were in attendance.

The 14th of November Evil held a New York premiere of the new film adaptation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, attendees included the film’s stars, composer Stephen Schwartz and Broadway faces such as Kristin Chenoweth, Lea Michelle, Micaela Diamond, Alex Newell and more. Watch Playbill’s Jeffrey Vizcaíno interview the stars in the video above.

On the red carpet, Evil original cast member Chenoweth (who played Glinda on stage) was tearful, saying, “I was hoping I’d be alive to see it. I didn’t know I would be! I didn’t know if they would be . make the movie.” She laughed and added: “The fact that they did and I’m here to see and I get to enjoy the legacy of it and that it’s in my DNA. And now it’s in their hands and they can now take it and run.”

The film’s director Jon M. Chu dished that he actually brought the film’s stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, home after they were cast. Composer Stephen Schwartz was also there. “They came to my house, in the living room, and sang ‘For Good’ with Stephen Schwartz on the piano. It was the most magical thing I’d ever seen…That’s when we knew we had a movie.”
