A LOOK AT THE COMING WEEK

Monday will contain high temperatures 10°F to 15°F above normal for mid-November, signaling an unseasonably warm start to the week.

A weak cold front will cross our hometowns on Wednesday. Some light, scattered showers are likely to move in from west to east during the second half of Tuesday and dwell in Wednesday.

A front will trigger a few showers Tuesday into Wednesday.

A strong cold front driven by an intense low pressure system will sweep through late this week. This powerful storm system will bring additional precipitation, primarily in the mountains, but MUCH colder air behind it.

Temperatures will drop into the 40s for highs later in the week.(WDBJ7)

FIRST WARNING: A wintry mix of sleet and snow is possible at elevations above 3500 feet, with light snow accumulations in places like Greenbrier Valley and Snowshoe Mountain. Some of this activity may also have minor impacts on hometowns west of I-77. We’ll have a better idea of how this will shape up soon, so check back!

While not everyone will experience a wintry mix, we expect widespread windy conditions Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Gusts can be as strong as 30 to 40 miles per hour. With lows in the 30s, prepare for some bitterly cold windchilled values Friday and Saturday morning!
