Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins wasn’t sure if Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic would play Sunday night at FedExForum. Jenkins and his staff made two game plans so he wasn’t caught off guard when Jokic was ruled out for personal reasons before the game.

Memphis looked prepared and ready for a Nuggets offense that was missing their biggest piece. The Grizzlies’ defense made it difficult for Denver in a 105-90 victory.

The Grizzlies (8-6) were led in scoring by Jaren Jackson Jr., who had a game-high 20 points. In his second game back from an oblique strain, Desmond Bane returned to the starting lineup and secured a double-double. He finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

A total of 11 Grizzlies players played double-digit minutes. All 11 scored and recorded at least one rebound.

Memphis will be back in action Tuesday against the Nuggets (7-5) again at FedExForum.

Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart has been ruled out due to illness. Smart has recently returned to action after missing six games with an ankle injury. His absence will open up minutes on the perimeter for Vince Williams Jr., Desmond Bane, Jaylen Wells and Luke Kennard.
