Notes from devastating 49ers loss to Seahawks

– Another play-action boot doesn’t work. It wasn’t a well-executed fake, and Seahawks CB Riq Woolen didn’t bite on it, allowing him to influence Purdy’s throw and force an incompletion.

– Samuel has negative juice.

– Big throw from Purdy to Jennings. The big receiver fought his way through coverage and Purdy delivered a dime into a tight window on a third-and-11.

– Jake Brendel is flagged for holding on a third-and-1. It’s the eighth penalty of the day for the 49ers. Brendel is not having a good day.

– JAUAN JENNINGS. He converts on another third-and-11, this time fighting through three Seahawks defenders to get the last few yards he needed for the conversion. Unreal.

– Another touchdown in the red zone for the 49ers, capping a 14 (!) play for 70 yards. Jennings hauls in his easiest reception of the day on a play-action look down near the end zone. He had four catches for 42 yards and a TD on that streak. He is up to nine catches for 86 yards and a touchdown on the day.

– Hard run by Walker on a fourth-and-1. De’Vondre Campbell came in to push Walker wide, but the RB cut it back up for a first down.

– WOW. The 49ers defense holds on a third-and-1 and then a fourth-and-inch. They’ve been really good most of the afternoon and getting a stop there could be what swings this game to the 49ers. They get the ball back at their own 37 with 3:56 left.

– Really good start to the offensive. McCaffrey plows forward for 11 yards and a first down. A touchdown would do this one, but the 49ers can also salt the game away with a few more first downs.

– 49ers save the Seahawks a timeout by throwing on second-and-11. Purdy’s throw to Samuel was too high. Not his best rep. It’s a surprise that Jennings didn’t get to see.

– Seattle didn’t have a punt return left to receive, and O’Donnell still punched his kick into the end zone. Instead of holding the Seahawks deep, they take over at their own 20.

– Huge sack from Leonard Floyd. He’s had a really good game and the 49ers need him with Bosa out.

– Second and 13, the 49ers allow Smith to run for 16 yards. Poof.

– Now Smith runs for the winning TD. An embarrassing effort from San Francisco in a must-win game.
