SB Nation Reacts to Results: Is Bills Mafia Losing Confidence in Buffalo?

The Buffalo Bills are putting together a truly successful NFL season in 2024, much to the delight of fans and the surprise of nearly everyone tuned into pro football. It might sound strange when you consider the fact that quarterback Josh Allen is still very much the focus of One Bills Drive, but plenty of people wrote off this season due to so much roster turnover that removed a ton of veteran leaders .

If the Bills Mafia needed a reminder, here it is: Josh Allen will still do Josh Allen things, and we’re all very lucky to witness that as fans. Go ahead and strip the best safety tandem in the NFL and part ways with Allen’s longtime top two wide receivers (even though WR1 had a Hall of Fame career with him) — that won’t stop QB17. Allen thrives on adversity and his passion and commitment is as genuine as the core of Bill’s Mafia. When you’re in Bills Country, you have to find a home at the intersection of Allen and Hurdle.

What else? Well, the Bills are 8-2, currently sitting as the two seed behind the undefeated Chiefs — with a chance to dent their armor in Week 11. Additionally, Buffalo holds a commanding lead in the AFC East, and looks to be on pace to to claim what would be a franchise-record fifth straight AFC East title.

In recent weeks, the results of our Reacts survey have turned out to be really favorable. That’s to be expected when fans are constantly celebrating victories. Right? Well, the Bills haven’t made it easy to win some weeks and they’ve dropped a few games to AFC playoff hopefuls. Still, Buffalo weathered that storm and is currently riding a five-game winning streak. Life is really good in Bills Country. But is it great?

That was last week, prior to Buffalo’s road game vs Indianapolis Colts. They also won that game decisively – although it wasn’t necessarily pretty in the offense and not everywhere in the defense either.

After coming off a season with 96% of voters feeling confident about the Bills, we’ve seen a slow march downhill from 89% in Week 10 to now just 78% of fans feeling confident ahead of Buffalo’s Week 11 -match.

I’m not at all sure we have clean data this week, mainly due to what has been a healthy influx of Chiefs fans on our side. It is possible that a good number of votes have come from outside the fan base. But it’s also possible that fans are hesitant to get too excited just yet. I had plenty of worries after last week’s win. Statistics will only take you so far, and sometimes that trip fails an all-important eye test.

If you’re not on board yet, or you fell off the wagon, what will it take for you to regain confidence in head coach Sean McDermott and this year’s Buffalo Bills? Regardless of this week’s results, I think it’s safe to say that our confidence rating will look a lot different next week, win or lose.

FanDuel Sportsbook shared data with us about who will cover Bills vs. Chiefs for week 11. Perhaps boosted by a favorable season-long point total, 60% of the money coming in is on Buffalo to cover at -1.5. Do you agree?

NFL fans were asked to power rank the top 10 teams. The Bills made the list, rightfully so. But where did they land? How does fourth, rear work Baltimore Ravens (3rd), Kansas City Chiefs (2.), and Detroit Lions (1.), sound?
