Charli XCX mentions Martha Stewart, journalist feud in ‘SNL’ monologue

Now it is Abrupt.

Charli XCX hosted “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend and mentioned Martha Stewart’s feud with The Post journalist Andrea Peyser during her opening monologue.

The singer, 32, used Stewart, 83, to falsely claim Peyser was dead in her Netflix documentary, and Peyser’s subsequent “I’m alive bitch!” clapback, as an example of what “brat” is.

“Honestly, it’s like an attitude,” said Charlie. “It’s a mood. For example, the new Martha Stewart documentary: When Martha gets mad about an old magazine article and she says she’s glad the journalist who wrote it is dead, that are brats.”

“And then last Friday when that particular reporter responded and said, ‘Hey, I’m alive, bitch,’ that’s extremely brat,” Charli added.

The “Apple” singer then declared that “anyone can be Brat” as she was joined on stage by “SNL” alum Kyle Mooney.

Peyser told The Post exclusively, “Word to mistress Martha: I’m still alive. Bitch. I’m thrilled to be called ‘extremely ‘brat’ on SNL. And thrilled that Martha Stewart is just ‘brat.’ however, is still a bit scared to have lived so long, rent-free, in Martha’s head.

In the “Martha” documentary, Stewart talked about the “New York Post lady” who wrote “terrible” things about her during her 2004 trial for an insider trading scheme. The famous stay-at-home mom served five months in prison for her crimes.

“But she’s dead now, thank God,” Stewart said of Peyser, without ever naming her.

“And no one has to put up with the crap she wrote all the time,” she added.

But Peyser — who covered Stewart’s six-week trial from a Manhattan courtroom almost daily for The Post — told Stewart, “I’m alive, bitch.”

“The news of my passing came as a shock. Should I be afraid to keep writing that ‘crap’?” the writer added in his November 7 column.

“Long after she and her insider tip-off stockbroker Peter Bacanovic were convicted of securities fraud and other crimes, and then lied about it to federal investigators, her thoughts are not with her family, her pink employees, her mini-menagerie of animals or even her own miserable self. She has focused her anger on me,” Peyser wrote.

She also said, “Martha thinks I’m ‘dead.’ for Martha’s bitterness.”

Stewart responded to Peyser’s column while speaking at the Philadelphia Conference for Women event, telling the crowd, “She wrote this very sharp article today in the New York Post — my favorite paper.”

After reading Peyser’s headline, which caused audible gasps from the audience, Stewart added, “So it will probably get more people to see my documentary.”

The former talk show host also doubled down on her innocence, calling her securities fraud “a crime I didn’t commit.”
