Ex-Eagles player is opening a restaurant near a game venue that could host the NFC Championship

A former NFL player who had a brief stint with the Eagles is opening a lounge near a venue where he started his career, a place that could attract many Eagles and Detroit Lions fans in late January.

According to MLive’s Edward Pevosrunning back Joique Bell co-owns an establishment called Parlay Detroit, which serves as a restaurant, cocktail bar and cigar lounge located about five minutes away from Ford Field, home of the Lions. There are also plans to add a hidden speakeasy, which is currently under construction.

Bell entered the league as an undrafted free agent when the Buffalo Bills signed him in 2010. He joined the Eagles a few weeks after the end of training camp, signing on the Bills’ practice squad before two stints in Philadelphia, first on the active roster and later on the training team.

Bell dressed in three games for the Eagles in 2010, but did not record a rush or reception. Alongside his time with the Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears, Bell’s best seasons were with the Lions, where he rushed for 2,235 yards over five seasons. His peak came in 2014, when he rushed for 860 yards and seven touchdowns, helping Detroit reach the playoffs.

Given the Eagles’ recent performance, they could face the Lions in the playoffs, potentially as deep as the NFC Championship Game. At 8-1, the Lions currently have the best record in the conference and hold the tiebreaker over the 8-2 Eagles due to a better conference record.
