Houston-area singer Sundance Head in stable condition after being shot in the stomach

A singer from Porter who gained fame from his appearances on “American Idol” and “The Voice” is recovering after being shot in the stomach.

Sundance Head – whose real name is Jason Head – was taken to a hospital by Life Flight after suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was scheduled to be taken in for immediate surgery upon landing, but doctors determined the bullet did not need to be removed, as reported by Misty Head, his wife, d. Facebook.

“I’m sure she said why (the bullet wasn’t removed) but my head is in a fog right now. Being on the bigger side was a good thing. The bullet is in his fatty tissue,” the post read.

Misty added that the bullet penetrated his naval and lodged in his abdominal wall, saving him from damage to his vital organs.

She also thanked fans and supporters for prayers during the terrifying experience.

Trey Newman, Sundance Head’s agent, provided KPRC 2 with the following statement about the circumstances surrounding the damage:

Sundance Head is recovering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen/umbilical area at a hospital in Tyler, TX after being lifted from his ranch while hunting. The bullet is lodged in a fatty area of ​​the abdomen and no surgery is planned at this time. He is stable and we await further details on this accident. At this time we do not have information on exactly how it happened, but are 100% sure it was not self-inflicted. The family asks everyone to keep Sundance in their prayers.

The Porter native was a semifinalist on the sixth season of American Idol in 2007. He then won season 11 of The Voice in 2016 as a member of Team Blake Shelton.
