Get excited, winter lovers! Arizona will see a significant drop in temperatures this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a low pressure system is currently moving through the Pacific Northwest, onto the West Coast and will eventually hit Arizona on Saturday.

Phoenix heads into the weekend with a high of 71 degrees on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will drop from Saturday as a new low pressure system moves through the state.

Higher ground could get some rain, and the rest of the valley can expect highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid-40s through Tuesday.

This new low pressure system could potentially bring snow north. Evan Laguardia with the National Weather Service office in Flagstaff said there will be a small chance for isolated snow and rain showers Saturday and Monday.

Laguardia said Flagstaff will be “quite chilly” this weekend with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Expect overnight temperatures below freezing and daytime temperatures in the 40s.

Southwest winds gusting nearly 30 miles per hour are expected to hit northern Arizona on Friday. The weather service issued a wind advisory for the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains that will be in effect throughout the day.

Southern Arizona will also get a break from the heat this weekend. Alex Edwards of the National Weather Service office in Tucson said there will be an incoming cold front.

Edwards said the low pressure system will pull cold air from the north and moisture from the south, causing temperatures to “really drop” with a slight chance of showers Sunday and Monday.
