Kansas State basketball vs LSU livescore updates: Wildcats face familiar non-conference foe

MANHATTAN — Kansas State basketball will face a familiar non-conference opponent Thursday night when LSU visits Bramlage Coliseum for the second half of a doubleheader with the Wildcat women’s team.

The no. 10-ranked K-State women (2-0) will face preseason No. 20 Creighton (1-1) at 5:30 p.m., with the men taking on LSU at 8.

This will be the third time in as many years that the men from K-State (2-0) and LSU (2-0) square off, and the Wildcats are looking to complete a three-game sweep. The teams had never met before. K-State claimed a 61-59 victory in the final of the 2022 Cayman Islands Classic and then followed it up with a 75-60 decision at LSU last Dec. 9.

The leading scorer for K-State in last year’s game was Cam Carter of Louisiana with 21 points. Carter, a senior guard, transferred to LSU during the offseason and currently leads the Tigers in scoring with 21 points per game. match.

Villanova transfer Brendan Hausen has made 10 3-pointers and averaged 19.5 points through the first two games to lead K-State, followed by David N’Guessan with 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds and Cal State Fullerton- transfer Max Jones with 15 points.

LSU has opened the door for a K-State comeback with three early second-half turnovers, but the Wildcats are just 1-of-8 shooting and continue to trail by a dozen 49-37, with 15:23 remaining.

LSU dominates the first half behind Cam Carter

Former K-State guard Cam Carter leads all scorers at halftime with 12 points as LSU takes a 43-31 lead into the locker room. The Tigers are shooting 51.5% and have outscored the Wildcats, 21-12, and have a 10-3 advantage in points off turnovers, though each team has turned the ball over five times.

Dug McDaniel and David N’Guessan lead K-State with 10 points apiece, but the Wildcats were ice cold to end the first half, shooting 36.4% in the period, including 4 of 13 from 3-point range.
