Sharks at Rangers (Game 18): Lines, Game Wire and How to Watch

The San Jose Sharks continue their East Coast swing with a stop at Madison Square Garden tonight to face the New York Rangers. As expected, the Rangers are in the mix for the playoffs. The team is fourth in the Metropolitan Division but has a .679 hitting percentage, better than the division-leading New Jersey Devils, who have played five more games than the Rangers at this point in the season.

This will be what some hockey experts call a “money on the board” game. The Sharks will certainly be looking to beat Rangers to get some form of revenge for Barclay Goodrow. You’ll recall that when the Rangers couldn’t trade Goodrow, the team decided to place him on waivers to get him off the roster. That’s when San Jose picked him up and bailed out the Rangers. Goodrow wasn’t upset about returning to San Jose, but rather the way the Rangers handled it all.

In honor of his return to MSG, Goodrow will skate on the top line with Macklin Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli tonight.

As for what to expect from the Rangers, Artemi Panarin leads the team with 22 points in 14 games. He is far from the hottest player on the team right now. Alexis Lafreniere and Adam Fox are tied for second on the team in scoring with just 12 points each. Panarin also leads the team with 10 goals.

In net, Igor Shesterkin is 6-4-1 for the season with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. Jonathan Quick’s record is 3-0-0 this season with a 1.17 goals against average and a .964 save percentage.
