Scores, highlights from TNF week 11

game

Week 11 of the 2024 NFL season gets under way Philadelphia Eagles (7-2) hosted by Washington’s commanders (7-3).

The stage is set for an exciting NFC East showdown between two teams battling for first place in the division.

Philadelphia is in first place entering this Thursday night showdown at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles comes out of an impressive 34-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia has won five games in a row after a great game from the quarterback Regret hurts and the rest of the Eagle’s attack.

Meanwhile Commanders got off to a great 7-2 start, but enters week 11 off a disappointing one 28-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Washington is arguably the biggest surprise of the 2024 NFL season, and the No. 2 overall, Jayden Danielshas been outstanding through the first half of his rookie campaign.

A playoff atmosphere can be expected in the City of Brotherly Love tonight. USA Today will provide live updates leading up to “Thursday Night Football” and throughout the game.

Elliott has been a good kicker for the Eagles, even hitting a couple of 60 yarders in his career. However, distance is not his strong suit this season. Elliott has attempted four field goals from 50 yards or longer this season, missing all of them. That will make life difficult for this Philly offense, knowing it can’t rely on its kicker to come through from long range. Elliott, like a basketball player, needs to see one go through before he gets his mojo back.

It’s becoming a theme, but the Eagles weren’t able to take advantage of excellent field position. Jake Elliott missed again, this time from 51 yards out. Philly tried some razzle-dazzle, but it was sniffed out by Frankie Luvu, who dropped Jalen Hurts for a big loss. Now Washington gets a chance to have good field position looking to extend its lead.

The Eagles controlled time of possession and ran twice as many plays as the Commanders, but have nothing to show for after one. They trail 7-0 but have the ball at the Washington 41-yard line when play resumes.

Washington’s first drive lasted a minute and ended with a quick punt. Washington’s second drive lasted two minutes and ended with a touchdown. Brian Robinson Jr. capped it off with a 1-yard run to get the Commanders on the board. The running backs did the damage on this drive. Austin Ekeler’s 34-yard catch-and-run set it up and Robinson’s 18-yard carry got the Commanders down to the goal line.

Washington leads 7-0.

A stellar season for the star running back continues as Barkley tops the 1,000 rushing yard mark on an 8-yard carry to start the drive. He fell short in 2023 after posting 1,312 yards in 2022. Barkley has dealt with plenty of injuries and inept offenses during his career, but is back to stardom in Philadelphia.

Barkley’s next challenge is getting back to 2,000 scrimmage yards, something he hasn’t done since his rookie year in 2018. With seven more games to go, there’s a real chance he can get there again.

Washington caught a break on the Jake Elliott miss, but was unable to do anything with its luck. A quick three-and-out only took about a minute off the clock before Jalen Hurts and the Eagles could go back to work.

Philly’s opening drive got off to a promising start, with the big play being an AJ Brown 32-yard catch-and-run. The drive quickly stalled after a penalty, forcing the Eagles to settle for three. But Jake Elliott pushed his kick wide left on the 44-yard attempt. No scoring through five minutes.

We’re just over a minute into tonight’s festivities, and we have our first injury of the night: Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson. He was rolled up and limped off the field after a Saquon Barkley run. Tyler Steen will replace him for the time being.
