Trump will nominate RFK Jr. to head of the Department of Health and Human Services: source

President-elect Donald Trump announced that he nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Trump, in a post to Xtouted his choice of Kennedy, a report confirmed by a source to The Post.

“I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and pharmaceutical companies that have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes down to public health,” Trump said.

“The safety and health of all Americans is the most important role of any administration, and HHS will play a major role in helping to ensure that everyone will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming health crisis in this country Mr. Kennedy will restore these agencies to the traditions of gold standard research and transparency, to end the chronic disease epidemic and to make America great and healthy again!

Kennedy, 70, has been a staunch supporter of Trump since he suspended his independent presidential bid in August.

The Post previously reported that Kennedy — who is an honorary chair on the transition team — was gunning for the HHS slot, but also faced allies pushing him toward an advisory role. AP

The decision, first reported by Politico, is the latest administration seat chosen by Trump.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson was also targeting the location, sources had told The Post.
