The TSSAA initial realignment for 2025-27 has major implications for Rutherford County

The TSSAA has announced its initial realignment for Rutherford County schools for the 2025-2027 school years, introducing significant changes across multiple sports.

Soccer

Region 3-6A

All eight Rutherford County teams previously split across different regions will now come together in one consolidated region to form Region 3-6A.

Region 5-1A

Eagleville will join Region 5-1Acompetes with Cornersville, Fayetteville, Huntland, Moore County and Richland.

Division II-A

Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) and Providence Christian Academy (PCA) will be grouped into Region Eastalong with Concord Christian, Grace Baptist, Providence Academy (Johnson City), The King’s Academy and Webb School.


Basketball, baseball and softball

4A

There are also big changes for these sports. The eight Rutherford County 4A teams will be divided into two districts, playing within the region:

  • District 9-4A: Blackman, La Vergne, Smyrna and Stewarts Creek.

  • District 10-4A: Oakland, Riverdale, Rockvale and Siegel.

These districts will be formed Region 5which will now feature trips west for sectional play instead of competing in the Chattanooga area.

District 8-3A (Central Magnet)

Central Magnet will join a four-team district made up of DeKalb County, Macon County and Watertown.

District 10-1A (Eagleville)

Eagleville will be a part of District 10-1Awhich includes Culleoka, Hampshire, Mt. Pleasant and Santa Fe.

DII-A District 3 (MTCS & PCA)

MTCS and PCA remain in DII-A District 3. Nashville Christian and University School of Nashville are moving to another district, while new additions include Franklin Christian, Highland Rim Academy and St. Cecilia Academy.

These realignments mark a significant shift in the competitive landscape for Rutherford County schools, promising new matchups and regional dynamics for the coming school years.
