Jon Gruden lands Barstool Sports job as NFL coaching rumors swirl

Jon Gruden is back in the game – sort of.

Three years after resigning from the Raiders over leaked emails in which he used racist and homophobic language, Gruden was hired by Barstool Sports on Thursday.

Barstool President Dave Portnoy confirmed the news — first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter — by posting a video of Gruden breaking down his famous “Spider Y 2 Banana” game to Barstool employees. It is reportedly a multi-year agreement.

“Let’s go,” Portnoy captioned the video.

In between coaching gigs, Gruden worked as an analyst for ESPN on “Monday Night Football” from 2009-17.

it’s unclear what exactly the 61-year-old Gruden’s role with the sports and entertainment blogging website will be.

In the video, Gruden asks the Barstool employees, “Y’all want to learn some football? Seriously, do you? Okay, let’s hit the rock.”

The Super Bowl-winning coach has raised his online profile recently with a series of intense TikTok videos on his Gruden Loves Football account in which he tears down the league.

Gruden is currently suing the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell, accusing him of “selectively leaking” emails in an orchestrated move to force him out as Raiders coach.

The emails were sent to former Commanders former team president Bruce Allen and were part of an investigation into Washington’s workplace culture under then-owner Daniel Snyder.

However, there have been reports recently that Gruden’s exile from the league could be coming to an end.

Former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason said on his WFAN morning show Wednesday that he believed in Gruden would soon return to an NFL sideline.

“I can confirm that he definitely wants to get back in, 100 percent,” Esiason said. “I can also confirm — and I think it’s true, it’s my opinion after talking to at least two different people who are involved in coaching searches and things like that — that there are teams that are interested in him. And if it’s not this year, it’s next year. But he’ll be back, he’ll be back for sure.”

The Jets and Saints have already fired their coaches with several other openings likely to become available after the season.
