Kanguva Telugu Movie Review, Suriya, Bobby Deol, Disha Patani

Kollywood star Suriya’s ambitious action-fantasy drama Kanguva is one of the most awaited biggies this year. Suriya and the film’s team promoted the film across the country. History:

Francis (Suriya) is a bounty hunter. He has a formidable competitor in his ex-girlfriend (Disha Patani). One day, Francis bumps into a boy in Goa, after which he remembers his bond with the boy in his previous life. The film then goes to a period that goes back several centuries. Who is Kanguva? What does he do to protect his clan? Why did the Kanguva clan clash with the other clans? The film depicts Kanguva’s heroic battles with the rival clans. Is Francis a reincarnation of Kanguva? Plus points:

As always, Suriya is fabulous in his dual role of Kanguva and Francis. His performance as a warrior lord who sacrifices his life for the promise he makes to his clan is one of Kanguva’s greatest highlights. The film has grand visuals, action and emotional elements that fans expect to experience in a Suriya starrer.

Bollywood actress Disha Patani does justice to her leading lady’s role. She impresses the youth in an ultra-glamorous avatar. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol also delivers a solid performance. His character has a lot of depth and Bobby does an impressive job in his role, which has been made a fitting nemesis for Suriya’s Kanguva character by director Siva. Natarajan Subramaniam also did quite well and showed solid screen presence. KS Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, Kovai Sarala and Mansoor Ali Khan appeared in crucial roles and they are impressive.

One of the special highlights of Kanguva is Karthi’s cameo. The underwater sequences in the climax and pre-climax and the emotional scenes between Chinna Babu and Suriya are quite good.

Minus points:

Despite the heavy emotions and magnificent visuals in Kangua, some of the sequences in the narrative are not that impressive and made the film feel underwhelming at times. The romance track with Suriya and Disha Patani could have been better. As a result, the film failed to match the huge hype surrounding it.

On the whole, director Siva, who designed some spectacular action scenes (especially in the climax) along with the main theme that he wanted to narrate, could not match the pace of the rest of the scenes. While there is enough room to make these scenes more interesting, Siva dilutes the overall effect by focusing more on highlighting the emotional drama.

Technical aspects:

Cinematographer Vetri Palaniswami’s visuals stand out as one of Kanguva’s biggest highlights. Along with the pivotal scenes in the film, the rest of the action scenes were shot beautifully in keeping with the story and the period setting. Editing by Nishad Yusuf is also quite impressive. The songs composed by music director Devi Sri Prasad are decent and their imaging is particularly good. The background music was okay. Siva has done justice as a writer-director. Producer KE Gnanavel Raja’s great production values ​​indicate that he did not compromise in any aspect to make Kanguva a memorable film under his banner.

Verdict:

Kanguva is a period action and emotional drama that offers some impressive action sequences and emotional scenes. Suriya’s powerful performance in particular, the surprise elements in the climax and top-notch technical standards from the team make Kanguva a high-quality magnum opus. But the routine script, slow narration of a few scenes and the love story is not very impressive. Suriya has succeeded in taking Kanguva to the next level with his superlative performance. Overall, Kanguva will end up as an entertaining watch only for Suriya fans.
