Sasha Farber is clapping back after Jenn Tran’s ex throws shade at his name

Sasha Farber clears the air about the origin of his moniker after Jen Tran‘s ex Devin Strader threw some shade his way.

“The name Sasha is short for Alexander,” the Dancing with the stars pro, 40, wrote via his Instagram Story on Monday, Nov. 11, “You know who else had the same name, Alexander the Great!!! FYI .”

Farber’s explanation checks out as Provenance gave a similar report. The genealogy database shared that the name Sasha originates from Russia and is a shortened form of Alexander. It explained that the moniker has become gender neutral for modern use.

Farber’s applause comes just days after Strader, 28, made remarks about the dancer’s name on social media. On Saturday, Nov. 10, a user responded to Strader’s Instagram post, saying, “Jenn found a great guy, his name is Sasha.” In response has Bachelor alum replied, “It’s a girl’s name.”

Strader subsequently doubled down on his remarks. Another user pointed out that Sasha is a name that is widely used across both genders, and Strader apparently took another jab at Farber.

“Thank you LiNgLiNg. He’s literally half the man I am,” Strader replied.

Another user hit back at Strader, writing, “Wow Jenn did some real charity work with you!!,” to which he replied, “I’m also a fan of helping the less fortunate.”

Tran, 26, met Strader during his season off The Bachelor. While she initially gave him her final rose, viewers learned during the finale that the couple broke up after Strader broke off their engagement over the phone.

After the public heartbreak, Tran was added to the cast Dancing with the stars season 33, where she partnered with Farber. Through their journey, Tran and Farber formed a friendship and showed their chemistry in their dances. Tran gushed about how Farber was there by her side as she recovered from her heartbreak caused by Strader.

Tran was eliminated from the competition during the show’s “Halloween Nightmares” episode on October 29. Despite their exit, the duo have remained close and have spent time together after the show, including a recent appearance on Evil premiere in Los Angeles.
