Much needed rain returns Wednesday evening | Nov 13, 2024 – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Parts of the state could receive over 1″ of rainfall through Thursday night.

This morning:

Temperatures are again on the crisp side this morning as a thin layer of cloud cover slowly begins to move into central Indiana.

Wednesday:

Clouds will continue to build for most of the morning, but we will remain dry. Winds will gradually begin to pick up before our next system arrives overnight. Scattered showers will begin in the mid to late afternoon. Rain should become a bit more widespread as we prepare for the evening commute.

Meanwhile, high temperatures will top out in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Wednesday evening:

Widespread rain fills the entire area this evening into the early hours of the night. Much of our area should receive anywhere between half an inch to 1 inch of rainfall.

Thursday:

Isolated light showers will continue through the first half of the day as the frontal system continues to slowly move through. Otherwise, we’ll be cloudy and a bit cooler with highs in the mid-50s.

Friday/ this weekend:

Calm weather for Friday and much of this weekend with above average temperatures. High pressure will settle in for the next few days and keep us sunny with highs in the mid and upper 50s Friday and Saturday, topping out in the lower 60s by Sunday.

7 day weather forecast:

Temperatures will remain above average early next week with highs around 60° Monday and Tuesday. There will be quite a few rain chances for both of these days. We are starting to see hints of a significant pattern change mid to late next week, which could bring a significant cooling to our area.
