John Krasinski reacts to being named People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2024

John Krasinski has admitted he thought he was “punked” when he discovered he had been named People magazine’s sexiest man in 2024.

The publication chooses a celebrity who raises the pulse every year, with heartthrobs such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney and John Legend among the previous winners. And this year The office star Krasinski took the title, overtaking 2023 winner Patrick Dempsey.

Reacting to his win in a video interview with PeopleKrasinski admitted it was a little unexpected.

“Just instant blackout, so the brain actually shut down,” it said Jack Ryan star. “Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I’ll get punked.

“After that, it was just a false reality. It’s not like I usually wake up and think, ‘Is this the day I get asked to be the sexiest man alive?’ And yet, the day you did it, you really raised the bar for me.”

Krasinski, 45, said his actress wife Emily Blunt was “very excited” he had been selected for the honor.

“There was a lot of joy involved,” he said. “But I think it will make me do more housework, but I’m willing to take the downsides with the pros to be honest with you. I think after the cover comes out, she’ll say, ‘Okay, that means you’re really going to earn it at home.'”

He also quipped that the decision would surprise his brothers and would likely be a big talking point at Thanksgiving. He joked that they would probably “wonder how that’s possible” for years.

There has been a mixed response from fans after People announced the winner in 2024.

After the release, the news spread Instagramsome fans posted messages in the comments section saying that Krasinski was a good choice. “Yassssssssss,” one said, dropping a string of fire emojis.

“Sexiness!” commented another. “Fun is very sexy,” said another fan. Another noted: “John Krasinski is very sexy. Good choice People!!”

But others offered the names of the stars they would have liked to see win with Top Gun: Maverick actor Glen Powell comes up a lot. “How is it not Glen Powell…” one wrote, while another person asked: “WHEN GLEN POWELL EXISTS?!”

Krasinski is known for playing Jim Halpert in The office from 2005 to 2013 and starred as Jack Ryan in the Amazon Prime series. He and Blunt have been married since 2010 and share two daughters – Hazel, 10, and eight-year-old Violet.
