The last thing a great boxer loses is his punch, and the leather thump on the pads was as thunderous as in the old days.

But most notable was the hand speed of the combinations. If Iron Mike has slowed down in that department at 58, then it’s imperceptible.

He even impressed himself, telling a crowd of several thousand at the Toyota Motor factory that on the first day he went back to the gym after signing the contract to fight YouTuber Jake Paul at Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Friday night: ‘ I thought, what the **** have I done?’

He then added: ‘I’ve come through the process and I’m fine right now.’

He took off his top to reveal a body as muscular as in his world champion prime. So when reminded that his family will all be ringside for the fight at times, he said: ‘My children will see that their father is a very special person.

“They will also learn not to talk back to me.”

The same lesson can also be taught to an opponent young enough to be his son if Tyson connects with the kind of power he demonstrated here.

That said, Iron Mike left the auditorium before Paul arrived to go through his paces.

The former two-time world champion showed off his infamous left hook as he violently backed his trainer into a corner of the ring.

Nevertheless, fans both in the arena and watching online were left in awe of the once undisputed heavyweight champion.

One excited fan wrote: ‘Mike Tyson still got it! Jake Paul better be ready for a REAL fight!’

The clip of Tyson training has even had some social media users suggesting that 27-year-old social media star Paul will not make it out of the first round.

“If Tyson can land one of those legendary punches early, Mike Tyson can finish it before Paul’s Instagram live feed even loads. 30 seconds or less,” one account wrote.

While another said: ‘He’s going to back Jake up and unleash the famous punch combo and I want to see how Jake reacts to that.’

Meanwhile, Paul takes a more relaxed approach to his training, rocking up to the arena with a bizarre hairstyle that looks like a chicken.

While joking around, the YouTuber-turned-boxer also showed off the plethora of combinations he plans to use on Friday night.

The much-anticipated fight, originally set to take place in July, will be fought at AT&T Stadium in Texas on Friday night and streamed on Netflix.
