Explains

When it comes to the NBA Cup, you only need to know these two terms: Group Stage and Knockout Rounds.

Group games: All 30 teams are drawn at random in groups of five within their conference based on won-loss records from the 2023-24 regular season. Each team will play four designated group stage matches – one match against each opponent in its group, with two matches at home and two away.

Knockout Rounds: Eight teams advance to this stage: the six teams with the best standings from their group stage play and two “wild cards” (the team from each conference with the best record in group stage play but finished second in its group). This step is single-elimination: Quarterfinals > Semifinals > Championship.
