My Chemical Romance tour brings ‘The Black Parade’ to Boston

Get ready to rock on, Boston, because My Chemical Romance is marching into town next year.

The fan-favorite emo rock band announced Tuesday that it’s heading back on the road in 2025 with a stadium tour that will stop at Fenway Park in Boston on Sept. 7. Dubbed the “‘Long Live’: The Black Parade” tour, My Chemical Romantik kicks off the fun in Seattle on July 11 with punk rockers Violent Femmes serving as the night’s special guests. The British punk rock band Idles will be a supporting act during next year’s stop in Boston.

Other special guests scheduled to join the band on tour in 2025 include Death Cab for Cutie and Thursday, August 9 in East Rutherford, NJ; Alice Cooper on August 15 in Philadelphia; and Evanescence on September 13 in Tampa. Additionally, Boston indie rockers The Pixies will join My Chemical Romance during the tour’s Toronto stop on August 22, but unfortunately will not be joining the band during its performance at the Hub.

The upcoming tour celebrates My Chemical Romance’s 2006 hit album “The Black Parade,” which the group recently performed in its entirety at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas last month. Band members Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero and Mikey Way reunite to perform the entire album during the upcoming tour across North America.

Named one of Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”, “The Black Parade” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard US Top Rock Albums and US Top Tastemaker Albums charts upon release. The album’s lead single, “Welcome to the Black Parade”, became one of the group’s most beloved tracks and was certified platinum five times.

My Chemical Romance broke up in 2013, but reunited in 2019 for a show in Los Angeles and announced a reunion tour the following year. Originally postponed due to the pandemic, the international tour began in May 2022 and stopped at Boston’s TD Garden on September 7 and 8 of that year.

Tickets for the “Long Live’: The Black Parade” tour put up for sale on Friday at 10 on Ticketmaster.
