‘Twisters’ debuts on streaming on the Peacock this week

Twisters—Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos’ summer blockbuster—debuts on the Peacock this week.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the standalone sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Twister debuted in theaters on July 19 before switching to digital streaming via premium video on demand on August 13.

The film’s logline reads: “As storm season intensifies, the paths of former storm chaser Kate Carter (Edgar-Jones) and ruthless social media superstar Tyler Owens (Powell) collide when terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed. The pair and their competing team find themselves directly in the paths of several storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.”

Ramos stars as Javi, Kate’s former storm-chasing colleague who convinces his old friend to leave New York City and return to Oklahoma five years after suffering a devastating tragedy.

According to Peacock, Twisters debuts on the streaming service on Friday, November 15. You must be a Peacock subscriber to watch Twisters on the streaming platform.

Peacock has ad-based subscription packages for $7.99 per month and $79.00 annually, as well as ad-free subscription packages for $13.99 per month and $139.99 annually.

How did audiences and critics react to ‘Twisters’?

The numbers reported it Twisters earned $267.7 million domestically and nearly $102 million internationally for a worldwide box office total of $396.7 million during its theatrical run.

Rotten tomatoes critics had mostly positive things to say about it Twisters and overall gave the film a 75% “fresh” rating based on 388 reviews. The RT The critics’ consensus reads: “Summoning a storm of acting and carried along by the storm of Glen Powell’s charisma, Twisters‘ the forecast is excellent with a high chance of excitement.”

Twisters also received one RT Audience score of 91% “fresh” based on more than 10,000 verified user ratings. The RT Audience summary reads: “Populated with likable characters and stunning visuals, Twisters looks like a classic 1990s blockbuster in all the right ways.”

For viewers who don’t subscribe to Peacock, there are a few other ways to watch Twisters. The film is still available on video on demand on several digital platforms, including Prime Video, AppleTV and VUDU for $19.99 to buy or $5.99 to rent for a 48-hour period.

In addition Twisters can also be purchased on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD.
