Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson admits to peeing in water bottles on set: ‘Yes, it happens’ | Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)

Dwayne Johnson, AKA The Rock, has admitted that he sometimes pees in water bottles during filming – and is sometimes a little late to set.

In an interview with GQ magazine, the actor and producer responded to the allegations made by the industry news site Wrap on his behavior during the filming of his latest film, Christmas comedy Red One: “I’ve said a thousand times, ‘Hey, I’m here. Come and ask me. And I’ll tell you the truth.’ “

In the April viral article, Johnson’s alleged chronic tardiness was blamed in part on increasing the budget of the $250 million action comedy, with insiders saying he showed up as much as eight hours late during filming, forcing the filmmakers to shoot scenes around him.

The Wrap also reported that the star regularly peed in water bottles while making his films. Johnson, who has previously admitted using bottles to save time during workouts, admitted to GQ the habit extends to his film work: “Yeah, it happens.”

Responding to reports of the delay, he said: “Yeah, that happens too. But not that amount by the way. It was a bunch of bananas. It’s crazy. Ridiculous.”

Red One director Jake Kasdan supported his star, telling GQ that Johnson, who plays Santa’s bodyguard in the film, “never missed a day of work. He’s very busy. He can be late sometimes, but that’s Hollywood – that’s how it is with everyone. Honestly, I’ve done three big movies with him. I’ve never seen him be anything but amazing to every single person on set.”

Red One co-star Chris Evans was also supportive: “In terms of the guy I saw compared to some of the stuff I’ve seen in other movies with other actors who are not only not aware of other people’s time and effort, but they’re unpredictable? I found Dwayne to be – we all know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s going to do it.”

Evans told GQ that Johnson was sometimes late to show up on mornings when he worked out. β€œHe comes a little later some mornings, but that’s part of the plan. It’s worked into the schedules and everyone knows it, so he shows up when he’s supposed to show up.”

Red One has received overwhelmingly negative reviews, with The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw giving it one star and describing it as “deeply depressing and blandly sentimental”.
