Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is truly dedicated to his craft.

The action movie star, in a new wide-ranging cover story with GQ published Monday, partially confirming details from a recent one The packaging report that claimed he would “pee in a bottle” and was sometimes late to the set of his new Christmas movie “Red One.”

Asked about the former, Johnson said, “Yes. It’s happening.” And in response to The Wrap’s reporting that he was chronically late by up to eight hours, he told GQ that while he was late to set, it was “not that amount.” He added: “It was a load of bananas. It’s crazy. Ridiculous.”

USA TODAY has reached out to Johnson’s representatives for comment.

In April, The Wrap reported that Johnson’s delay and the producers’ inexperience had cost Amazon MGM’s $250 million holiday comedy “Red One” costly delays. Johnson and Amazon MGM’s representatives denied the allegations at the time.

“Red One” director Jake Kasdan, who has worked with the former wrestler on several films including “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Jumanji: The Next Level,” told GQ that Johnson “never missed a day of work ever. He He can be late sometimes, but that’s Hollywood.”

“I’ve never seen him be anything but amazing to every single person on set,” Kasdan added.

The film’s co-star Chris Evans shared similar high praise.

Evans said that “compared to some of the things I’ve seen on other films with other actors who are not conscious of other people’s time and effort” as well as “unpredictable”, he found that with Johnson it was business as usual.

“We all know exactly what he’s going to do, when he’s going to do it,” Evans said.

Evans recalled “$5 Fridays” on set, where movie productions will offer daily raffles that the set will contribute to. Stars are usually not in the game, but are expected to contribute money. Evans said one day on set that Johnson went above and beyond.

“I’m really not exaggerating this,” he began. “The pot was up to four or five thousand or something, and before they pulled the name, Dwayne said, “What’s the pot right now?” And somebody said, ‘I don’t know, four thousand.’ And he said, ‘Let’s call it 20’.”

The “Captain America” star told the outlet that Johnson had increased the jackpot on several occasions, up to what Evans estimated was “close to a hundred thousand dollars.”

“Red One,” which also stars JK Simmons as old St. Nick, starring Johnson as North Pole security chief Callum Drift and bounty hunter Jack O’Malley (Evans), is due for release on Friday.
