An injury to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa ruined the early part of the Miami Dolphins’ season, and at 2-6, they look set to miss the playoffs after making the postseason in the past two campaigns.

Tagovailoa missed four games with a concussion after taking a hard hit to the head in Week Two, and Miami has suffered two more narrow losses since returning. However, the Dolphins’ offense looks more like itself again, and Mike McDaniel’s team can contribute to a high-scoring meeting against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

The Dolphins gained an impressive 26 first downs in last week’s 30-27 loss to the Buffalo Bills and outgained their hosts 373 yards to 325. A late defensive collapse led to their sixth loss of the season, but they are capable of improving on their currently low ranking in the position in the coming weeks.

The Rams have won three in a row since the return of star wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and this should be another entertaining affair.

Before joining the Dolphins, McDaniel ran the 49ers’ offense and he enjoyed plenty of success against the Rams. In his final year as San Francisco’s offensive coordinator, the Niners averaged 29 points per game. match against Sean McVay’s team.

The Rams have flourished since their injury woes began to ease, and QB Matthew Stafford and his offense have scored 56 points over the past two weeks in wins over the Vikings and Seahawks.
