The stars of 'Wicked' gather for the Los Angeles premiere as the film adaptation prepares for release''

The stars of the much-anticipated film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked are set to be released together on November 9, 2024, according to a report in The People. Held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, the event brought together the original cast members from the stage version and those who would star in the new film, bringing both generations under one roof.
Jon M. Chu directs the film adaptation, starring the legendary duo Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel originally played Glinda and Elphaba. The four women attended the event where they took photos to mark the occasion as a once in a lifetime gathering, but a celebration of the legacy being created by Wicked. Other cast members who attended the premiere included Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater and Bronwyn James.
Although most of the creatives involved in making the film walked the red carpet, there was no Jon M. Chu to present his film. In fact, Chu had to miss the premiere as he wanted to spend some quality time with his wife before their fifth child arrives. However, people’s hype and eagerness to catch the adaptation of the 2003 Broadway hit, itself inspired by L. Frank Baum’s. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, reached fever pitch from fans to celebrities.
Wicked tells the emotional story of the Wicked Witch of the West by turning the story of Elphaba Thropp, the misunderstood young woman with green skin and magical powers. At Shiz University, she also finds an unlikely friend in Glinda, a cheerful and popular young aspiring witch. As they face challenges from outside, a bond develops between the two women – all indications are that the complicated relationship to develop in Oz will take over much of the play.
The standout from the shoot is memories of newcomer Marissa Bode, who played Nessarose, Elphaba’s sister. She said: “Kindness was shown throughout filming. I remember Erivo baking cookies for the actors, vegan and gluten-free options. All the leading ladies contributed to the development of their characters by actively engaging with the production designer to bring the set to life. Bode added in People’s special Wicked Question.
Split into two parts, Wicked will make its first episode in theaters from November 22, 2024. The world premiere of the film is significant for both and their stars, as fans have long been anxious to see where this iconic musical next time goes.
