North Texas’ severe weather threats rise – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of North Texas until Friday. 21.00.

North Central counties included in the Tornado Watch are: Bell, Bosque, Collin, Cooke, Coryell, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Falls, Freestone, Grayson, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Kaufman, Lampasas, Limestone, McLennan , Montague, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise counties.

Numerous showers and storms are expected today with the threat of heavy rainfall, flooding and severe storms.

Any severe storm that develops will be capable of producing hail, damaging winds and even a tornado or two.

The timing for severe storms will this afternoon and into the evening. Approximately 15:00 to 21:00

Light rain and scattered showers are already moving through North Texas this morning. For DFW, there may be some breaks in the rain around noon, but then there will be a round of heavy thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening. Heavy downpours will pose a risk of flooding, so watch out for high water on the roads. 1-2″ of rain is possible for DFW, the heavier amounts (3-5″) farther west.
