Ian Botham survives falling into a crocodile and shark infested river as Merv Hughes saves the day

Botham, now 68 and Britain’s trade envoy to Australia since 2020 through his position in the House of Lords, got his flip-flops caught in a rope and tumbled into the Moyle River, which is home to plenty of crocodiles as well as bull sharks , who feed on whatever the crocodiles leave behind.

The legendary England all-rounder was left with heavy bruising on his torso after hitting the boat on its way into the water. Aided by Hughes, he joked that he was now cricket’s answer to Crocodile Dundee, the Paul Hogan character of the 1980s.
