Top Harris adviser deletes account after posts suggesting criticism of Biden

David Plouffe, a top adviser to Vice President Harris’ campaign, has deleted his account on the social platform X after a post that appeared to criticize President Biden following Harris’ loss to former President Trump this week.

Plouffe said it was a “privilege” to work on Team Harris, writing Wednesday that his campaign colleagues “left it all out there” as they tried to keep Trump from a second term in the White House.

“We dug out of a deep hole, but not enough,” he added. “A devastating loss. Thanks for being in the arena, everyone.”

Plouffe’s post was met with swift backlash, with screenshots showing the comments sparking hundreds of replies and engagements.

By 10:00 a.m. EST Thursday, his account had been deleted.

The top Democratic strategist had suggested on Monday that Harris could win all seven swing states. In reality, Trump won all seven, according to Decision Desk HQ forecasts.

Harris’ loss, and both the Senate and likely House losses, has left many Democrats dismayed about the party’s future.

Some have criticized Biden for not getting out of the race sooner, while others have suggested that Harris spent too much time attacking Trump or failed to communicate his economic agenda to the American people.

Biden’s approval ratings were underwater at 40 percent around the time he dropped out of the race after a disastrous debate performance.
