Ja’Marr Chase makes history with monstrous stats in Bengals loss to Ravens on TNF

With 11 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns, Ja’Marr Chase set a stat line in a single game Thursday that had been matched only one other time in Cincinnati Bengals history — by Chase himself, in 2022.

In the Bengals’ 35-34 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Chase became the first player in NFL history to record multiple games of 250-plus yards and two-plus touchdowns in a career. Chase first set a similarly monstrous stat line on January 2, 2022, when he hauled in a franchise-record 266 yards on 11 receptions with three touchdowns.

While Chase couldn’t match his own franchise record, it wasn’t for lack of opportunity. He simply ran out of time.

The last of Chase’s yards came on a 5-yard touchdown in the final minute to pull the Bengals within one point. Cincinnati’s two-point conversion attempt fell incomplete, preventing Chase from adding to his stat line in overtime.

All three of Chase’s touchdowns came in the second half, the first on a weaving 67-yard catch-and-run through the entire Ravens secondary. The other was a 70-yard rainbow connection with Joe Burrow midway through the fourth quarter.

Chase now holds the Bengals franchise record for 60-plus-yard touchdown receptions with 12, topping the previous record of 10 held by Isaac Curtis.

After Thursday, Chase now has two of the 23 260-yard performances in NFL history. Out of those 23 games, only seven of those performances added three-plus touchdowns, and Chase owns two of them.

Chase is still playing on his rookie contract after failing to reach a long-term deal with the Bengals before the season. During Thursday’s game, his agent Caitlin Aoki published on X“He keeps making my job easier.”
