John Harbaugh says Kyle Hamilton’s ankle injury ‘not serious’

Perhaps the Ravens’ top defender, All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton suffered an ankle injury in the first half of “Thursday Night Football” against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hamilton walked off the field without assistance from trainers and was initially declared doubtful to return. He was sent off near the start of the second half and returned to the sidelines in a sweatsuit wearing a boot.

After the game, head coach John Harbaugh gave an update on Hamilton.

“It’s not a serious ankle (injury),” Harbaugh said. “I don’t know how long it will be, but it’s a sprained ankle.”

Hamilton went down in a heap with one minute, nine seconds left in the first half. It is unclear if the back of his cleat was accidentally clipped by a Bengals receiver running behind him or if it was a non-contact injury. Hamilton dropped into coverage on a 17-yard completion to running back Chase Brown and his ankle rolled.

Hamilton already had four tackles and two passes defended in the first half. He entered the game second on the team in tackles (67), first in passes defensed (five) and had two sacks.
