Semi trucks jackknife on I-40 in icy AZ stack

A portion of Interstate 40 was shut down in northern Arizona Wednesday after snow and ice caused slick roads.

The wintry weather occurred on November 6 near the Interstate 40 and Interstate 17 intersection in Flagstaff, Arizona.

According to AZ familythe crashes began around 5:45 a.m. and involved about eight vehicles. The pileup included several semi trucks that spun and blocked the eastbound and westbound sides of the interstate.

Traffic backups stretched from central Flagstaff to the west side of the city.

Snow and a half inch of ice were reported in the Flagstaff area at the time of the crash. No further information has been released.
