Snowstorm continues into Saturday morning

Heavy snow continued to fall across Colorado Thursday morning, and forecasters from the National Weather Service said the storm could drag on into the weekend.

Snow increased in coverage and intensity across the Colorado Plains and metro area Thursday morning, according to NWS radars.

The Palmer Divide and Eastern Plains will see the heaviest snow Thursday with up to 11 inches of possible accumulation, NWS forecasters said. The Denver area could also see another 1 to 4 inches, and more snow is expected to fall in the south metro.

Forecasters said “hazardous to near-impossible travel conditions” will exist across the Plains and metro area, with more travel impacts south of Interstate 70.

ONE Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for most of the Denver area from Thursday night into Saturday morning, forecasters said. The exact time frames for the watch were not available.

“Moderate to heavy snow is possible … Friday into Saturday morning as the storm system from the past few days is finally expected to push out of the area,” forecasters said in a Warning of hazardous weather. The snow is expected to taper off Thursday night across Colorado before moving back in Friday morning.

The eastern plains could see up to a meter of snow from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, forecasters said in the weather forecast.
