Flagstaff, AZ – Snow showers are expected to continue today and Thursday in Flagstaff and surrounding eastern Arizona areas. With temperatures near freezing in the early hours, residents are advised to prepare for slippery roads, especially on Interstate 40. Visibility may decrease in heavy snow and travel delays are possible, making caution essential for motorists.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Flagstaff can expect a high near 37°F today, with the snowfall tapering off Thursday evening. Temperatures are set to rise gradually, reaching the mid-50s on Friday and rising further into the upper 50s on Sunday. The snowy conditions today are accompanied by a slight chance of showers continuing into Thursday morning, with winds out of the northeast gusting up to 21 mph. This can further affect visibility, especially in the morning.

Thursday’s weather will see a similar start, with temperatures just below 40°F but clear skies in the evening. On Friday, the forecast turns sunny, with temperatures expected to reach near 50°F, bringing relief to residents after the cold. The warming trend will continue into the weekend with temperatures around 57°F on Saturday and sunny skies through Sunday. However, low temperatures will remain cool, dipping into the 20s at night.

The NWS urges residents to stay informed of local road conditions, especially along mountainous routes that are prone to icy patches. Travelers on I-40 and surrounding highways should use caution as melting snow can refreeze overnight creating hazardous conditions. Warmer, drier conditions are expected to hold through early next week, marking a brief respite from the snowy start to November.
