But Carl Frampton has told how he was in the running to join this year’s campmates, including his former manager Barry McGuigan.

speaks to Boxing SocialCarl, 37, said: “I swear to God I was almost there last week.

“When Tommy Fury pulled out, there was me and two others (hoping to take his place), then there was me and someone else, and then the guy from McFly got it in my place.

“So of course I think there must have been a debate that would have put me and McGuigan in at the same time, by the way I would have liked to have been with him, I would have absolutely loved it, but it wasn’t to be. be next year.”

Barry, 63, managed Carl for eight years until they split in 2017.

They later became embroiled in a multi-million pound legal battle after Carl took action over alleged retained earnings.

Barry countersued, claiming that Carl had breached his contract by leaving.

The cases were settled confidentially in 2020.

Speaking earlier this year, Barry revealed his feelings towards Carl, saying: “Just a disappointment. Pretty deep disappointment.”

Speaking to Belfast Telegraphhe continued, “I took him into my home, made him part of my family.

“I didn’t take a dime from him for over two years (until) he won Commonwealth title.

“Very disappointing that he left for Daniel Kinahan. That’s it. We’ve moved on.

“He (Frampton) can say what he wants but he knows he couldn’t have achieved anything without me or my family and the work we put into him.”

I am a celebrity 2024

As the hit ITV show enters its 24th series, a whole new group of familiar faces look set to re-enter the Australian jungle to face terrifying Bushtucker trials and live amongst the critters in the camp to get out at the top and be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle. The Sun’s Jake Penkethman takes a look at the stars heading Down Under this year…

  • Coleen Rooney – Arguably the most famous name entering the camp, the leading WAG, known for her marriage to Wayne Rooney, will make a grand return to television as she looks to put the Wagatha Christie scandal behind her. The Sun revealed that the mum-of-four had been given an eye-watering deal worth over £1.5million to enter the camp this year, making her the highest-paid contestant ever.
  • Tulisa – The pop star and former X Factor judge looks set to make a triumphant TV comeback by signing up for this year’s I’m A Celeb after avoiding TV shows for many years. Known for being a member of the trio, N-Dubz, Tulisa became a household name back in 2011 when she signed on to replace Cheryl on ITV show The X Factor in a multi-million pound deal.
  • Alan Halsall – The actor, known for playing the long-running role of Tyrone Dobbs on ITV soap Coronation Street, was originally tipped to front Down Under last year, but an operation threw his planned appearance off course. Now he will be hoping to become the latest Corrie star to win over both viewers and his fellow celebrities when he arrives at the camp.
  • Melvin Odoom – The radio DJ has become a regular face on TV screens after rising to fame presenting roles on Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 and 4Music. He’s already had a go on the Strictly dance floor and hosted The Xtra Factor with Rochelle Humes in 2015, but now he faces his biggest challenge yet – the Aussie jungle.
  • GK Barry – Britain’s biggest social media personality, GK, whose real name is Grace Keeling, has turned her TikTok stardom into a lucrative career. Apart from her popular social media channels, she hosts the weekly podcast, Saving Grace, and appears regularly on the ITV talk show, Loose Women. She has even endorsed popular brands like PrettyLittleThing, KFC and Ann Summers.
  • Dean McCullough – A rising star among this year’s crop of celebs, Dean first gained notoriety through his radio appearances on Gaydio and BBC Radio 1. He was chosen to join the BBC station permanently in 2021 and has been prominent ever since. He has enjoyed a transition to ITV over the past year thanks to his guest spots on Big Brother spin-off show Late & Live.
  • Oti Mabuse – The professional dancer has signed up for her latest TV show after making her way through the biggest shows on the box. She originally found fame on Strictly Come Dancing but has since branched out into the TV judging world with appearances on former BBC show The Greatest Dancer as well as her current role on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
  • Danny Jones – The McFly star was added to the program at the last minute as a replacement for Tommy Fury. Danny is the second member of McFly to enter the jungle after Dougie Poynter won the show in 2011. He is also considered a rising star on ITV as he is now one of the mentors on their Saturday night talent show, The Voice, together with bandmate Tom. A Jungle insider said: “As well as bringing some of the group’s star appeal with him, he’ll be delivering some serious boy candy for the campmates and viewers at home.”
  • Maura Higgins – The Irish TV beauty first found fame on Love Island, where she found a brief connection with dancer Curtis Pritchard. Since then she has competed on Dancing On Ice as well as hosting the Irish version of the beauty pageant, Glow Up. Since last year, she has been working to build her career in the US by being a social media correspondent and host of Aftersun to accompany Love Island USA. She even hosted an episode of the spin-off, Love Island Games, in place of Maya Jama last year.
  • Jane Moore – The Loose Women star and The Sun columnist will brave the creepy crawlies this year. The star is ready for a new challenge – after separating from her husband recently. It will be Jane’s first foray into reality TV, with the TV favorite always saying no to reality shows in the past.
  • Barry McGuigan – Former pro boxer Barry becomes the latest fighting champion to lead Down Under in the footsteps of Tony Bellew and Amir Khan. It comes after a tough few years for Irish star Barry, who lost his daughter Danika to breast cancer. He told The Late Late Show in 2021: “She was such an inherent part of the family that we ache every day.”
  • Rev. Richard Coles – Former BBC radio presenter Rev Richard Coles is set for I’m A Celebrity – and is ready to ditch his old employer. The former Communards and Strictly star, 62, said the BBC didn’t know its a**e from its elbow last year. An insider said: “Rev Coles will have a variety of stories to tell from his wild days as a pop star in the Eighties, through to appearing on Strictly and his later life as a man of the cloth.”
