All lanes are reopening on the M6 ​​after the accident caused 90 minutes of delays

Two of four lanes were initially closed following the collision between Junction 10 near Walsall and Junction 10a near Wolverhampton, which happened on Tuesday (November 5) afternoon.

National Highways first warned motorists about the accident at 4.30pm.

Writing to X, formerly Twitter, it said: “Two of four lanes are closed on the M6 ​​northbound between J10 and J10a near Walsall due to a collision.

“National Highways Traffic Officers and recovery are on the scene.”

In a later update just after At 6.15pm it said only one lane remained closed but warned of 90 minutes of delays and around nine miles of traffic.

National Highways wrote to X: “One lane is now closed on the M6 ​​northbound between J10 and J10a near Walsall for ongoing complex vehicle recovery.”

All lanes were reopened around 6:45 p.m., although there were still delays of at least 60 minutes and about six miles of traffic.

The accident resulted in travel disruption in other areas including Oldbury and Birmingham.

West Midlands Roads wrote to X just before 5pm: “Due to the incident on the M6 ​​north between J10 Walsall and J10a, M54, there are long delays from J6 Birmingham and the M5 north from J2, Oldbury.

“Expect further congestion on the A34 Perry Barr and around (the) Black Country. Allow extra travel time and check traffic apps.”
