Maine voters will cast ballots in races for president, the U.S. Senate and the state’s two U.S. House seats. Sen. Angus King Jr., the independent incumbent who caucuses with Democrats, is favored to win re-election, according to estimates from the Cook Political Report. The House race in District 2 is considered a “Toss Up”.

In the Electoral College, Maine awards two electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins statewide and one to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes in each of its two congressional districts.

Maine’s elections use ranked choice voting. Voters will rank their top four picks in each race. If no one wins a majority, the lowest ranked candidate is eliminated and the second choice votes of their supporters are counted. The process continues until one candidate obtains a majority over the other.

Maine will begin releasing results after polls close at 6 p.m. 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
