Maine Presidential Election 2024 Live Results

Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris will face off in Maine for the state’s four Electoral College votes. Maine does not award all of its Electoral College votes to a single winner, splitting them instead, awarding two to the winner of the statewide popular vote and one to the winner of each of the state’s two congressional districts. Trump’s message to voters has focused on the economy, immigration and crime. Since taking over as the Democratic standard-bearer after President Joe Biden dropped out, Harris has argued that she would usher in a new era and has campaigned to improve the care economy, protect abortion rights and preserve democracy. In 2020, Biden won 53% of the statewide popular vote and also won a congressional district. Trump lost the statewide contest by 44%, but won a congressional district and therefore received one Electoral College vote. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the state with 48% of the statewide vote to Trump’s 45% and one congressional district. Maine voted predominantly Republican until 1988 (the last Republican to win the state was George HW Bush that year), but has since mostly supported Democratic candidates.
