I started to worry less about fame when I turned 50

“The company has been through so much over the last 17 years – ups, downs, restructuring … it’s been quite a journey,” she added.

“So finally, to be able to say we’re profitable is something I’m so proud of, because it’s not an easy industry and it’s getting harder and harder.”

The designer described one point in the fire-building process that there were “all fires” with her and her team putting them out “every day”.

However, she credited the launch of the Victoria Beckham fragrances as the turning point.

“When I created the fragrance, that’s when I believe we transformed from a brand to a house. I have spent years building the foundation. Now I can really start building the house.

“A friend was talking to one of the kids recently and they said I was a builder. And that’s what I am.”

A new documentary charting Victoria’s career from Spice Girl to fashion designer is in production at Netflix, following the success of the streaming giant’s series about her husband, which launched earlier this year.

She said it’s “not going to be as personal” as the previous series, where Victoria claimed she grew up “very working-class”, only for an interception by David to force her to reveal that her father owned a Rolls-Royce.

“David was in the other room looking at the monitor and then he stuck his head in the door. It was not rehearsed,” she insisted. “Like the dance in the tent. None of that was rehearsed.”
