Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. (hoarding) out vs. Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. will not play Sunday against the New York Giants because of a hamstring injury. It is the second time in four games that Robinson has been inactive.

Robinson was limited in practice all week because of the hamstring injury, but there was optimism he would play Sunday. But after he practiced earlier in the morning, the Chiefs (6-2) decided he wasn’t ready.

Robinson missed a Week 6 loss at the Baltimore Ravens while dealing with a right knee injury.

He leads Washington with 461 yards rushing and six touchdowns. He has averaged 4.6 yards per carry.

Washington elevated sophomore running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. off the practice squad Saturday afternoon if Robinson couldn’t play. Rodriguez can handle more of the power runs that Robinson often handled.

The Commanders also have Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols, both of whom have served more as third-down backs. Ekeler has rushed for 240 yards and caught 19 passes for 207 yards. McNichols has rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns.
