Metronet outage LIVE: Updating as service goes down across the US

Customers anxious as downtime hits three hours!

As customers wake up and prepare for work, the service remains completely down, leaving users increasingly anxious about the impact on their day.

The service has now been down for almost 3 hours with no public statement from Metronet to explain what is happening.

One reddit user said: “Absolutely insane that in 2024 a full service outage continues for 3+ hours on a weekday.

“Presumably their corporate customers are down as well, as their entire network is down.

“(It’s) Really crazy that it’s not resolved with the start of the working day… Even more crazy that Metronet is the best internet provider where I live.”

Customers in Rochester receive service update

Reports of widespread outages continue, with thousands of users unable to access Metronet services.

Customers in Rochester have now received a service update that reads: “There is currently a service outage that may affect your services. Our crews are working hard to resolve the issue.”

Users go to X to complain in case of service interruption

Users on X have expressed their frustration at the lack of communication from Metronet regarding the ongoing issues.

Some have pointed out the irony of the outage occurring just after National Internet Day on October 29.

The homepage is down

The website is also down and shows a “403 Forbidden” error, which means access to the page is denied, often due to permission issues on the server.

“Our internet connections went kaboomboom”

A user from Lafayette wrote on Reddit: “My neighbor and I are both Metronet customers and both of our internet connections went kaboomboom around 10am.

Other users responded quickly, also confirming outages in Michigan, Iowa, Florida and Virginia.

Another user appeared to confirm that the outage occurred between 3:00 and 3:15 in the morning, saying: “Tried to go online to make sure my payment went through and all that and the website will doesn’t even load correctly for me. I’m just glad I’m not the only one.”
