Real Madrid Player Ratings vs Valencia: Jude Bellingham saves idiotic Los Blancos! England star makes up for penalty miss with late winner after Vinicius Junior red-carded in chaotic clash against La Liga strugglers

Carlo Ancelotti’s side endured a confusing night at the Mestalla but were rescued by some late magic from their star man.

Real Madrid played one of the more confusing games of football in recent La Liga history on Friday night, missing a penalty and having Vinicius Jr sent off, but came from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Valencia.

Los Blancos looked to have lost it after 85 minutes, but late goals from first Luka Modric, then Jude Bellingham saw them hold on for a 2-1 victory.

The home side were more adventurous in the first half, forcing Thibaut Courtois into a couple of fine saves in the early going. However, the Madrid keeper could do little about the opening as his instinctive save fell into the path of Hugo Duro, who couldn’t miss from less than five yards. Los Blancos, for their part, created in a few moments but were well denied by the active Stole Dimitrievski, who made three fine saves in the first half.

They had a clear chance to equalize after 53 minutes when Kylian Mbappe was brought down in the box – but Jude Bellingham’s penalty hit the post. Further disappointment followed after Mbappe put the ball into the net but saw it waved offside. Vinicius Jr appeared to have ruined the evening after being baited into a silly push by Dimitrievski – earning himself a soft but fair red card.

But Madrid stayed alive, Luka Modric equalizing from the bench with six minutes remaining in normal time. And they somehow found a winner soon after, Bellingham latching on to a terrific backpass before calmly finishing into the bottom corner to complete the unlikely turnaround.
