Although 2025 has just begun, calendars are already being marked with holidays.

The Office of Personnel Management lists 12 federal holidays over 11 days. The mismatch occurs as Inauguration Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day both fall on January 20.

Federal holidays cause federal offices to close, along with banks and financial markets.

Not included on the OPM list is the January 9 day of mourning called by President Joe Biden in the wake of former President Jimmy Carter’s death.

Other holidays on the calendar to be celebrated include Easter, Hanukkah and Ramadan.

• Monday 26 May: Remembrance Day
• Thursday, June 19: Juneteenth
• Friday, July 4: Independence Day
• Monday, September 1: Labor Day
• Monday, October 13: Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day
• Tuesday, November 11: Veterans Day
• Thursday, November 27: Thanksgiving Day
