Clint Eastwood is ‘NOT done…or even retired’ just ‘Slowing Everything Down’ after ‘Juror No. 2’

Clint Eastwood has kept an extremely low profile in recent months, and friends and family are giving him the space he wants while still hoping he’ll be back to his old self in time – but only when he’s good and ready.

“Clint has slowed everything down in 2024 and was completely at home in the limited release of his latest film Juror no. 2which turned out better than anyone expected,” a longtime friend of the Hollywood icon explains exclusively to Closer to.

Clint, 94 years young, has been a powerhouse in the industry for decades, directing an astounding 16 films in the last 20 years, not to mention writing, producing and starring in even more.

“I like to work. That’s when I’m at my best. And the people around me know it. My wife knows it,” the Western legend said of his breakneck pace. His ethics are completely in line with how Gran Torino star sees the world as he once told Esquire in 2008 that the “smaller details are less important”, allowing him to write, film, edit and publish nearly one film a year. The actor insists, “Let’s get on with the important stuff.”

With his latest directorial effort, Juror no. 2Clint seems to have hit it out of the park. The Observer‘s Rex Reed said the foreign director “delivers relentless tension and moral complexity in a film that could mark a spectacular swan song.”

While New York TimesManohla Dargis says, “if this one proves, as rumor has it, to be his last as a director, he’s going out with a bang.”

The insider couldn’t agree more, sharing, “if this is truly his last film, he’d go out on a high,” but is wary of giving Clint the final 10 just yet. “The thing is,” the friend continues, “even though the media has consistently declared this movie to be Clint’s ‘farewell,’ Clint does not have a terminal illness and is not ‘dying’ per se. He’s just very old and made the conscious decision to to slow down this year and step away from the publicity and marketing work surrounding this film.”

Maintaining the work schedule he’s been able to build over the past few decades had required the screen legend to spend the lion’s share of his time in LA, but the source says he’s recently been spending more and more of his time hanging out with his family. in his vacation home in Hawaii, which clearly signals a change of pace.

Still, the insider emphasizes, “Clint is NOT personally saying he’s done with the business or even that he’s retired,” adding, “He’s taken breaks and time-outs from his career before.” However, Clint’s friend says that “this time feels different, even if Clint himself refuses to admit it.”

Without a formal farewell, hopes are high Clint will ultimately continue his career into the future.

“Nothing would make the people who love Clint in Hollywood happier than if he suddenly resurfaced with a new movie or acting project,” the source continues, “especially after people were so impressed with Juror no. 2.”
