Cool weather pattern continues into the weekend

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Dry air remains in the NCFL, giving us beautiful sunny days and cool nights.

  • Thursday: Sun, a few passing high clouds and a cool northerly breeze. Highs in the low/mid 60s.
  • Thursday evening: Clear and cool with a slight frost. Low in the mid-30s.
  • Friday: Some frost early, then sunny, cool and dry. Highlights of the mid-60s.
  • Extended: Temperatures will cool slightly on Saturday, then warm some on Sunday and Monday.

Although our weather will be somewhat changeable, it looks like the first half of January will be quite chilly. Be sure to protect tender plants, pets and people in the coming nights!

Our Thursday started off cool with temperatures in the 30s and a light frost. It’s shaping up to be a lovely day of sunshine, filtered at times by some passing high clouds. Look for highs in the low/mid 60s. It will become mostly clear later this evening as temperatures drop quickly after sunset…bottoms in the mid 30s with a light frost tomorrow morning. Friday will be another sunny, low humidity day with highs in the 60s.

Everything points to a beautiful weekend for the NCFL! A dry cold front will drop afternoon highs into the mid/upper 50s for Saturday. Temperatures will then drop into the low/mid 30s with frost likely Saturday night. Sunday will be warmer with plenty of sun and high temperatures in the 60s.

As the next cold front approaches on Monday, you can expect a mix of clouds and sun with the possibility of a few showers. Temperatures will top out near 70 Monday afternoon. But when the cold front passes, the cool weather will return for Tuesday and Wednesday.
