“The team did great” – Jesus and Martinelli react to comeback win at Brentford – Arseblog News

After Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Brentford, two of the goalscorers, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, faced questions from TNT Sports.

Here’s what they had to say…

On the message from Arteta…

GJ: I think the team did well today. To come here and play the way we played is great, not only because of the result, obviously the most important thing is the three points and we did that, but the most important thing was the way we reacted. To come back here against a tough opponent is always difficult and we did it.

At the time of his goal…

GM: I always expect the ball to look for me to score. I was kind of lucky at that moment, it was right in front of me, I checked and just put it in. I am really happy with the performance.

By celebrating with the fans…

GM: The support they give us is just amazing, we just want to say thank you to them for coming and supporting like they did. We are just happy with the result.

On the secret behind his turnaround in shape…

GJ: I think keeping working (is the key). Everyone in the club can tell you (too) how I work every day, not just me, everyone. But me personally I don’t give up, I always try, Arsenal is not easy, playing for a big club like Arsenal, but like I said, I played well when I had the chance, but I didn’t score. Now I can score and I am very happy. I want to keep scoring to help the team.

On Jesus who had his shirt torn before the end…

GJ: It’s the Premier League, I don’t want to talk about fouls and stuff like that, but as you can see, the referee gives a foul (to them), how is that possible? But that’s ok, I will always be there to fight for the ball and fight for this huge club.

On Arsenal’s strikers collectively covering the loss of Saka…

GM: No one can replace him, he is one of the best players in the world. We know our potential, we know the team we can have, we trust ourselves and we will do our best for the club and for B as well. I’m sure he’s happy with the result.

Whether Arsenal have what it takes to win the title…

GJ: Yes, for sure. The previous two years were great, we didn’t win the league but we were there fighting, playing this competition is already tough, imagine fighting for the title. I’ve been there, I can see that this team is great now, everyone is a good player, great player, I’m sure we can go there and fight for the title. It’s still early, we just have to keep playing well and keep winning the games, that’s it.
