Passenger claims she was kicked off Southwest flight because of cat feces

Crazy landings.

A woman named Alex claims she was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight to Los Angeles after her kitten pooped in its carrier, forcing her to spend the day in a random city. An X posts detailing the scat astrophe currently boasts over 20 million views at the time of writing.

The user, who goes by @barelyalex, wrote: “Finger down if your kitty pooed in his carrier on the plane because he got scared on a hard landing and the crew were so mad at the smell they kicked you off your next flight and left you in a random city for 12 hours and now you’re rationing cat litter and food in a family bathroom.”

In one follow-up post where she tagged Southwest Airlines, the flyer claimed her seven-month-old kitten, named Oni, had pooped in his carrier after being startled during the turbulent landing.

Since she had a close connection, Alex chose to clean up the mess in the toilet. However, the frantic flyer decided to throw the soiled towels in the bin as she didn’t know if they had been rinsed and assumed the bins would be emptied regularly.

“I realize I have to change tactics and ask the flight attendants for a trash bag and explain what happened,” she recalled. “They are very nice and understanding and I finish cleaning up and put the rest of the trash in the trash bag for them to get rid of easily.”

This may have been the fatal flaw because apparently they didn’t take the trash out between flights, preventing the smell from disappearing in time for the next trip.

To make matters worse, Alex learned from said crew members that her upcoming leg was scheduled for the same flight.

The new crew was far less sympathetic to Oni’s fecal fiasco and decided to raise a big stink.

“I get on board and see that the crew has changed, but obviously they informed the new crew of what happened and they’ve had to close that bathroom because of the smell of the trash,” said the passenger. “I go and sit in the back. (The) flight attendant approaches me in a hostile manner and says they are upset because they had to close the bathroom for the flight and questions me.

At one point, they even told her that “the bathroom is not your litter box,” which reduced the traveler to tears, according to the post.

Unable to tolerate the stench any longer, the flight crew ultimately decided to remove Alex and Oni from the connecting flight.

The one consolation was that an understanding Southwest Agent gave her a $200 voucher for a future flight, and she was eventually rebooked on another connecting flight.

After an endless unscheduled layover in an unspecified city, the flyer and her pet finally made it to LAX — just hours after they were originally scheduled to land.

Alex said the layover was particularly worrying as she had only packed for a short flight and was therefore forced to ration her supplies for her kitten.

X posters took pity on Alex over the smelly flight situation with one font“Wait, the smell was contained in the bathroom and they were still pissed about it??? Worse things happen in those bathrooms!!!!!”

“Also, it’s ridiculous that they don’t take out the trash between flights?” wrote another.

ONE third defender declared“PLEASE COMPLAIN TO THE AIRLINE IT’S EASY!!!

“And a $200 voucher is ridiculous for more than 6 hours of delay,” they added. “I’m so sorry about what happened to you and your cat.”

In a similar incident in September, a transatlantic Delta flight had to be diverted to New York City after a passenger had an apparent bout of diarrhea during the flight.
